Former Revival band Kadongo Kamu singer Hassan Ndugga harbors a grand aspiration of creating a traditional and cultural center of monumental scale, comparable to the Namugongo Catholic Shrine.
The renowned “Ebintu Bizibu” crooner is determined to see his dream materialize within his lifetime and is actively working towards its realization.
Ndugga envisions a space where traditional and cultural enthusiasts can congregate freely, performing their rituals and customs without hindrance, much like the serene environment offered by the Namugongo Shrine.
He advocates for unity among traditional believers, urging them to collaborate in establishing similar centers across specified areas, akin to the proliferation of churches initiated by pastors nationwide.
“I want to set up a very big traditional and cultural prayer center as huge as the Namugongo Catholic Shrine whereby an individual can come and perform their traditional and cultural norms freely as they wish,” Ndugga expressed.
Observing the suitability of Namugongo’s structural layout for traditional practices, Ndugga emphasizes the importance of constructing such facilities tailored to traditional beliefs, noting the presence of a waterbody within the shrine’s premises.
He envisions these centers as not only places of worship but also as hubs for cultural preservation and expression, lamenting the diversion of resources by some traditional leaders towards personal pursuits rather than community development.
Ndugga believes that the establishment of such centers will foster the growth of traditional beliefs and practices across the country, addressing a historical deficit in their representation.
In a bid to garner support for his endeavors, Ndugga plans to hold a concert, extending invitations to his former bandmates, including Nabbi Omukazzi, Padero Matovu, and Mugwanya, among others, calling upon them to demonstrate solidarity and affection.
