Former Obsessions singer Jackie O, real name Jackie Tusiime, has opened up about her emotional transformation from a chart-topping secular performer to a devoted gospel minister, revealing the powerful story of how faith saved her life — and her sense of self-worth.
The Ugandan singer, who first rose to fame in the early 2000s as part of the iconic all-girl group Obsessions, says her time in the entertainment spotlight came with a price — one that left her feeling empty, exposed, and spiritually lost.
“When I met God, the devil reminded me of those tiny shorts I used to wear and parade myself among thousands of people in concerts,” Jackie confessed in a heartfelt testimony.
She shared that even after giving her life to Christ, her journey to healing was far from instant. Guilt and self-doubt lingered, as she struggled to believe she was worthy of God’s forgiveness after years of living by “worldly standards.”

“The devil would whisper to me, ‘It doesn’t matter how long that dress is, we’ve seen it all,’” Jackie revealed. “To tell you, ladies, it was heartbreaking.”
Despite the pain and shame she carried from her past, Jackie says God’s grace met her exactly where she was. Over time, she found peace in knowing that her worth wasn’t tied to fame, beauty, or public approval — but to her relationship with God.
“I felt maybe God didn’t pay for all my sins as the Bible says,” she admitted. “I thought I was among the category of sinners that can’t be forgiven. But our God is merciful and unconditional. When I got saved, the pages weren’t flipped to look at my past — and that’s what was disturbing the enemy, because Satan felt like he was losing out.”
Today, Jackie says she’s walking boldly in her purpose as a minister of the gospel, using her platform to inspire women who feel trapped by their pasts or defined by society’s expectations. Her story, she says, is living proof that no one is too far gone for grace.
Fans who remember her from her Obsessions days — known for hits, dance routines, and glamorous performances — have praised her evolution, calling her transformation both humbling and inspiring.
Jackie joins a growing number of Ugandan entertainers who’ve transitioned from secular fame to spiritual purpose, including artists who’ve used their testimonies to reach younger generations struggling with similar challenges in the industry.
Her message now is simple but powerful: Redemption is real, forgiveness is available, and self-worth begins with faith.
🙏 “God didn’t look at who I was,” she says. “He looked at who I could become.”
