A vigil has since been held at the home of their firstborn son, Jemba, in Akright.
Gerald Kiweewa revealed the loss of his wife while addressing the audience during his performance in Makindye.
The singer explained that the woman who passed away was the mother of his eldest children and that the circumstances left him torn between honoring his work commitment and being with his family.
“The mother of my eldest children has passed away. Our firstborn is Jemba Joseph, followed by Nalinya and Nakiweewa,” Kiweewa said.
He added that although he wished to be home grieving with his loved ones, he had already made a commitment to perform.

During the emotional announcement, Kiweewa also reflected on the history they shared, revealing that they started their family while still teenagers.
“I got together with my wife when I was 17 and she was 14,” he said.
The singer said they went on to raise their children together and emphasized the trust and commitment that existed throughout their family journey.
“We had children and raised them together, and I never want any DNA tests,” he shared.
Kiweewa added that he was grateful that his late wife passed away without ever giving their children a reason to question his role as their father.
By the time the singer shared the news, the family had not yet released the full funeral program.
Details regarding burial arrangements are expected to be communicated after a family meeting.
