Omukama Oyo Nyimba Rukidi IV is in critical condition, according to an official statement from the Tooro Kingdom, which has asked the public to remain calm and pray for the monarch.
The update was issued through the Prime Minister’s Office as concerns grew over the King’s health. The Kingdom’s message did not disclose further details about his condition but made clear that His Majesty is currently in a critical state.
The statement also addressed reports circulating that Omukama Oyo had died. Those reports were rejected by the Kingdom, which clarified that the Tooro monarch is still alive.
“OFFICIAL COMMUNICATION. From the Prime Minister’s Office. To all the people of Tooro and the public, this is to inform you that King Oyo is currently in a critical condition,” the statement said.

The Prime Minister’s Office then appealed directly to the people of Tooro and others following the situation, asking them to keep the King in their prayers during what it described as a difficult time.
“At this difficult time, we humbly ask the people of Tooro and our friends to keep His Majesty in your prayers,” the statement added.
The clarification comes as unconfirmed reports about the monarch’s condition had circulated publicly, making the Kingdom’s confirmation that he remains alive particularly significant.
For now, the official position from the Tooro Kingdom is clear: Omukama Oyo is alive but in critical condition. No additional medical details have been provided in the statement.
The Kingdom’s appeal for calm and prayers puts the focus firmly on the monarch’s condition as the public awaits any further official communication from Tooro.
