Singer Kid Fox has left fans surprised after revealing that he has never married or fathered a child despite spending more than 14 years living in Japan.
The former Ugandan dancehall star, whose real name is Steven Kiggundu, was once a prominent figure on the local music scene before stepping away from the limelight and relocating to Japan.
Now back in Uganda after more than a decade abroad, Kid Fox says he deliberately went through the years without starting a family of his own.
Speaking during an interview with Galaxy TV, the singer explained that his return to Uganda was partly driven by a desire to see his mother and reconnect with his family, while also considering a return to music.
But it was his revelation about his personal life that caught attention.
“It has been 14 years. I have come to see my mother. I never left behind any family of my own. I went solo. By the way, that is a mystery. I do not have a child or a wife; I’m like that at my age.”
Kid Fox also opened up about his life in Japan, describing a routine largely centred around work and returning home.
According to the singer, he never felt pressured to rush into marriage or relationships while abroad, saying his personal principles influenced the choices he made.
“Even there, I didn’t marry. I do not have any children. Life in Japan is just work and going back to your house. Japanese women are not easy unless you opt to go for the spoiled ones; I cannot do this because I have principles.”
His comments offer a glimpse into a side of Kid Fox’s life that remained largely away from the public eye during his long absence from Uganda.
After years away, his return now comes with the prospect of reconnecting with his roots — and potentially making another move in the Ugandan music scene.
