Ugandan lawyer and politician Mubarak Munyagwa has taken aim at singer Gloria Bugie’s public image, saying she would be in prison if he had the authority to arrest her.
Speaking during a conversation with Kasuku, Munyagwa criticized what he described as declining morals in Uganda’s entertainment industry, particularly the way some artists dress in public.

“The type of artists being supported lately dress very skimpily. The likes of Gloria Bugie. You love them because they show you parts of themselves that should be kept private. I don’t like that,” he said.
Munyagwa then took his criticism further, saying he would have Gloria Bugie arrested if he held a position that gave him such powers.
“I’ll repeat this: if I were the Minister of Internal Affairs or Minister of Gender, Gloria Bugie would be in Luzira. I would have arrested her,” he said.
His remarks were framed as his personal view of how the entertainment industry should be regulated, rather than an announcement of any actual criminal proceedings against the singer.
Munyagwa’s comments come as Gloria Bugie continues to attract public attention over her fashion choices and outspoken public persona.
