Uganda’s grassroots music scene is producing a new generation of artists whose sounds are finding unexpected momentum on TikTok, with street anthems turning into viral moments across the platform.
From Kampala’s neighborhoods to communities across the country, young creatives continue to prove that talent can emerge from anywhere. While many upcoming artists have the creativity and unique sounds needed to stand out, access to funding, exposure and industry support remains one of their biggest challenges.
One person who has continued creating opportunities for emerging talent is Shirtless Boss, who has built a reputation for helping give young creatives a platform and connecting their music with wider audiences.

In the era of digital entertainment, platforms like TikTok have become powerful launchpads for unknown artists. A song can move from a local street favorite to a widely recognized trend through challenges, influencer videos and everyday users creating content around the sound.
One of the tracks currently gaining attention is “Naba Embwa” by WizBu Ranks, which has become a popular sound on TikTok, inspiring different videos and creative challenges.
But the viral movement goes beyond one song. Several other tracks from emerging Ugandan artists are also finding their way into TikTok feeds, helping introduce new voices to listeners who may have never encountered them through traditional music channels.
Among the street sounds currently making waves are:
- “Naba Embwa” — WizBu Ranks
- “Nze Kindeki” — Venom
- “Bad Company” — 1 Juvinyl
- “Mwenge Bigere” — Alpha Wiz
- “We Yah Bad” — Banda
- “Bam Bam” — Banda Ft. Next
- “Daddy Wire” — Kid Lipanda
- “Simple Robbery” — Abu Bashir Ft. Makufulu
- “Vu Lyangyaga” — Sir Daddy Savage
- “Choma” — Biggy MC
These songs represent more than viral sounds. They highlight the creativity coming from Uganda’s grassroots music communities and the determination of young artists trying to break into a competitive industry.

With continued exposure, professional support and stronger platforms for discovery, some of these emerging talents could find themselves moving from street favorites to household names.
For now, TikTok remains their biggest stage — and Uganda’s streets are providing the soundtrack.
