Ugandan events promoter Nobat Events, real name Norbert Twizire, has been remanded to Luzira Prison over allegations involving the management of funds belonging to music promoters.
Nobat appeared before Makindye Magistrates Court on Monday, October 5, 2026, alongside fellow promoter Mujabi Twaha as the two faced allegations concerning approximately Shs1 billion released by the government to the Kampala and Beyond United Music Promoters SACCO.
The pair are accused of allegedly mismanaging the funds, which were intended for the SACCO.

They also face allegations involving approximately Shs31.9 million in members’ savings, adding another layer to the dispute surrounding the promoters’ SACCO.
Nobat’s court appearance followed his reported detention at Katwe Police Station over allegations connected to the handling of the SACCO funds.
Following the court appearance, Nobat and Mujabi were remanded to Luzira Prison until October 26, 2026, when they are expected to return to court as the case progresses.
The allegations have not been determined by a court, and neither promoter has been convicted in connection with the case.

For Nobat, the court proceedings mark a significant development in a dispute involving both government-released funds and money contributed by members of the music promoters’ SACCO.
The case will now continue through the court process, with the next appearance scheduled for October 26.
