Ugandan singer Dax Vibez has revealed that celebrated musician Cindy Sanyu was his celebrity crush while he was growing up.
Speaking during an interview on Galaxy TV, Dax said he was drawn to Cindy because of her beauty, height and personality, although his admiration changed as he got older.
“It was Cindy growing up and she was beautiful. She’s an Itesot, she’s tall and very pretty, but the feeling changed as I grew up.”
Dax said he never told anyone about his admiration for Cindy at the time, describing it as a normal celebrity crush that he simply kept to himself.
“I didn’t tell anyone about it, but like anyone else, I also admired someone and it was her,” he said.
The singer was also asked which Ugandan female artist he would date if he had the opportunity.
Dax, who is married, named singer Jowy Landa, pointing to her personality and the way she carries herself.
“She’s free, and I like her character. I’m married, but she’s someone I’d date,” he said.
His answer was presented as a hypothetical choice rather than an indication of an actual relationship between the two musicians.
Dax also offered his opinion on an artist he believes deserves more recognition in Uganda’s music industry.
When asked to name an underrated Ugandan musician, he picked Topic Kassente.
According to Dax, Kassente has the potential to accomplish significantly more in his music career but has not yet reached the level he believes the artist could have attained.
The interview therefore gave Dax an opportunity to reflect on both sides of Uganda’s music scene — from the established stars he admired growing up to the artists he believes deserve greater attention today.
