Congolese music icon Koffi Olomide’s planned Independence Day concert in Gulu City has been postponed after Uganda’s Ministry of Health restricted the entry of the singer and his band from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) amid ongoing Ebola-related travel measures.
The performance had been scheduled for Friday, October 9, 2026, at the Northern Pearl Hotel Garden along Gulu-Kitgum Road. Organisers have now confirmed that the show will be rescheduled once the applicable travel restrictions are lifted and the artist’s team receives clearance to enter Uganda.
In a statement, the organisers said they respected the government’s public health measures and recognised the importance of protecting Ugandans, visitors and the wider community.
“We fully respect and support the Government of Uganda’s public health measures and appreciate the need to protect the health and safety of Ugandans, visitors and the wider community,” the statement read.

Concert postponed, but tickets remain valid
Although the postponement disrupts the original Independence Day plans, organisers have assured ticket holders that previously purchased tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled performance.
They urged fans to keep their tickets safely until a new concert date is announced.
“The Koffi Live in Gulu City Concert will be rescheduled to a new date once the Government of Uganda lifts the applicable travel advisory and Koffi Olomide and his team are cleared to travel to Uganda,” the organisers stated.
They added that all tickets already purchased would remain valid for the new date.
No replacement date has been announced, with the concert’s return dependent on the government lifting the applicable travel advisory and clearing the singer and his team to travel.

Ebola-related restrictions affect travel from DRC
The decision follows an ongoing Ebola-related travel advisory that has affected other travellers entering Uganda from the DRC.
The restrictions have now disrupted the planned appearance of one of Central Africa’s most recognisable music stars, who had been scheduled to perform for fans in northern Uganda during the country’s Independence Day celebrations.
For concertgoers, the immediate instruction is straightforward: retain existing tickets and wait for an official announcement from the organisers.
Koffi Olomide’s Gulu performance has not been cancelled outright. However, fans will have to wait until travel restrictions are lifted and a new date is confirmed before the long-awaited show can proceed.
