Ugandan football fans can still look forward to Guinness Matchday watchparties on Sunday, October 11, despite the cancellation of the planned English Premier League (EPL) Trophy Tour in Uganda.
The organisers, Uganda Breweries Limited and the Guinness Brand Team, announced that the trophy tour would not proceed as scheduled, but confirmed that previously announced football viewing events would continue, including the gathering at the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT) in Nakawa.
In a statement, the organisers said they had worked to bring the trophy tour to Uganda between October 11 and 13, 2026, but were unable to deliver the experience as planned.
“We worked hard to bring the Trophy Tour to Uganda between the 11th and 13th October 2026,” the statement read.
“However, despite our efforts, we have not been able to deliver it as planned, and it will unfortunately not be taking place as scheduled,” the organisers added.
Although the cancellation means fans will miss the planned trophy tour, Guinness says its football weekend activities remain on the calendar.
The organisers emphasised that the watchparties would proceed as previously communicated and that participating partners would receive further information directly.
“Our watch parties will go ahead as communicated, and we will be in touch with our partners directly. We remain committed to football fans in Uganda. Thank you for your understanding and continued support,” the statement said.
For supporters planning to watch the English Premier League with fellow fans, the events will still offer an opportunity to enjoy the matches alongside the familiar atmosphere of football banter, team rivalries and shared celebrations.
One of the key attractions is the opportunity for attendees at the UICT Nakawa watchparty to win one of 10 VIP live-viewing ticket prizes. The organisers have encouraged fans to follow Guinness Uganda’s official channels for confirmed viewing venues and further details about the competitions.
The cancellation of the trophy tour is a setback for fans who had anticipated the special football attraction, but the continuation of the watchparties means the planned matchday gatherings will not be affected.
With the trophy tour off the schedule and the viewing events still going ahead, Guinness is keeping its focus on bringing Ugandan football fans together for the weekend’s Premier League action.
