Ugandan saxophonist Isaiah Katumwa has released a new instrumental single, My Hope, using soulful melodies and African musical influences to deliver a message of faith, resilience and fresh beginnings.
Released on October 19, 2026, the track reflects on the uncertainties of life and the importance of believing that better days remain possible, even when circumstances are difficult.
Katumwa, known internationally for his Afro Smooth Jazz Fusion sound, says the song draws on personal experiences and faith. With My Hope, the musician aims to offer listeners more than an exhibition of his saxophone skills: he wants the composition to provide comfort and encouragement to people navigating challenging seasons.
“Hope is not the absence of difficulties. It is the decision to keep believing, even when circumstances do not give you every reason to,” Katumwa says.
“Life has its seasons, and not every season is easy. But I believe there is always a reason to look forward with faith and expectation.”
The release represents a new chapter in the musician’s artistic journey. Rather than viewing his experience and achievements as a final destination, Katumwa sees them as a foundation for exploring new creative possibilities and connecting with audiences in different ways.

He believes that music can offer encouragement at a time when many people are dealing with financial pressures, personal struggles and uncertainty.
“We are living in a time when so many people are carrying different burdens, sometimes silently,” he says. “Whatever season they may be going through, their story is not necessarily finished. There can still be something beautiful ahead.”
Unlike a vocal song, My Hope communicates its message without lyrics. Katumwa’s expressive saxophone leads the instrumental composition, combining soulful melodies, African influences and contemporary smooth jazz.
The absence of lyrics also allows listeners to interpret the music through their own experiences, regardless of language or location.
“Instrumental music has a beautiful way of reaching people beyond language,” Katumwa says. “Someone listening in Uganda, America, Europe or anywhere else may be experiencing something completely different, yet the same melody can speak to them personally.”
That international appeal remains central to Katumwa’s approach. He continues to draw on his African roots while incorporating contemporary sounds that can connect with listeners across different markets.
Beyond the new single, the musician is also looking toward further collaborations, creative opportunities and artist development, indicating that his ambitions extend beyond recording and performing.
At the heart of My Hope, however, is a message Katumwa says applies to his own life as much as it does to his audience: growth does not stop with experience, and past achievements do not eliminate the possibility of discovering something new.
“My journey has taught me that we never stop growing, learning or discovering new possibilities. Every chapter prepares us for another,” he says.
With its warm melodies and reflective mood, My Hope encourages listeners to look beyond their present circumstances and remain open to what comes next. Its central idea is straightforward: difficult seasons do not necessarily define the future, and there may still be more meaningful chapters ahead.
