Former Goodlyfe manager Bushingtone has opened up about the struggles behind the scenes of Uganda’s iconic music duo Radio and Weasel, revealing a shocking fear that haunted the group: losing Weasel.
In an exclusive interview with Vybe Life UG, Bushingtone disclosed that after the split between Goodlyfe and their former manager Jeff Kiwa, the team constantly worried that Weasel might return to his family’s music empire, Leone Island, led by his legendary brother Jose Chameleone.
“Our biggest fear was Weasel leaving Goodlyfe,” Bushingtone admitted. “His brothers were very powerful—financially, fame-wise, all of them were stars. It was very emotional because Weasel spent about five years not cooperating with his family. Once in a while, his father would come around, and Weasel would just stay in the bedroom. But his father used to beg him to return to Leone Island.”
Clash With Family Nearly Broke the Duo
The tensions reportedly escalated to the point of serious conflict between Weasel and his father. According to Bushingtone, at one point, Weasel even threatened to distance himself permanently from his family.
“At one time, Weasel and his father had an argument, and out of anger, Weasel said he had made his own burial grounds where he’d be laid to rest away from the family,” Bushingtone revealed.
This emotional turmoil highlighted just how much Weasel valued his loyalty to Goodlyfe, despite the pressures from his powerful musical family.

Weasel’s Sacrifice for Goodlyfe
Bushingtone emphasized that Weasel’s dedication to Goodlyfe went above and beyond. Unlike his partner Radio, Weasel was already a recognized star before joining the group—but he made major personal sacrifices to form and sustain Goodlyfe.
“Weasel made a sacrifice for Goodlyfe. Radio didn’t have to make any. Weasel was already a star before Radio, but he left everything behind to form Goodlyfe,” Bushingtone said.
This revelation sheds light on why the duo’s bond was so strong and why Weasel’s loyalty became a cornerstone of the group’s success. Fans often saw the glamorous side of Goodlyfe—hit songs, sold-out shows, and awards—but behind the scenes, it was Weasel’s unwavering commitment that kept the group together.
The Emotional Side of Fame
Bushingtone’s interview paints a vivid picture of the struggles musicians face behind the spotlight. The pressure of fame, family expectations, and personal ambition can create a high-stakes environment where loyalty is tested at every turn.
For Weasel, the choice between family ties and the dream of building something groundbreaking with Radio was heart-wrenching. Yet, he stayed, proving his dedication to the music, the team, and the fans who adored Goodlyfe.
