The late Mowzey Radio is remembered as one of Uganda’s most gifted songwriters, and his former manager, Chagga, has now opened up about the artist’s unmatched creativity — and the hidden challenges he faced behind the scenes.
In a candid YouTube interview, Chagga praised Radio’s relentless work ethic, noting that the music legend could churn out three to four songs every single day.
“You can ask Julius of Swangz Avenue and others how much they used to buy his songs. People know how good his heart was,” Chagga said.
A Selfless Artist With a Heart of Gold
Chagga described Radio as a selfless musician who often gave away his music instead of hoarding it for fame or profit.
“He was selfless and gave away most of his music instead of keeping it for himself. But people provoked him a lot, and sometimes it felt like a setup,” Chagga revealed.
Despite his generosity, Radio was not immune to the darker sides of the industry. Chagga explained that the music scene was rife with bad politics, with some individuals intentionally trying to exploit his vulnerabilities.

Whiskey, Beer, and the Dark Side of Industry Politics
Chagga shed light on a surprising detail about the late singer: his mood and behavior could be influenced by alcohol.
“Because they knew whenever Mowzey drank whiskey, he would turn rogue, they probably did that intentionally to weaken him. Whenever he drank Nile beer, he was calm, but whiskey would change his mood,” he said.
Chagga admitted that he often had to intervene to protect Radio from being sabotaged, but even some members within their own management would secretly provide whiskey, putting the singer at risk.
“I had to stop people from bringing it, but some people, even within our own management, would go behind my back and buy it for him,” Chagga added.
The Legacy of Mowzey Radio
Despite these challenges, Mowzey Radio’s musical legacy remains unparalleled. His ability to craft hit songs, coupled with his generosity and authenticity, left a mark on the Ugandan music industry that few can match.
Chagga’s revelations not only celebrate Radio’s genius but also highlight the behind-the-scenes struggles that many artists face — from jealousy to sabotage — even when their talent and heart are unmatched.
Fans continue to honor Radio’s contributions to music, sharing memories of his songs, his selflessness, and the artistry that made him a legend in Uganda and beyond.
