Ugandan singer Fik Gaza has spoken out about the financial nightmare he endured after his highly publicized arrest earlier this year — revealing he spent over Shs 30 million trying to secure his freedom.
The Fangone Forest artist, who was charged with robbery in Katwe and later released on bail in April 2025, says the costs of his legal defense nearly broke him.
Breaking Down the Bill
“I spent something like Shs 30 million,” Fik Gaza revealed in a candid interview on Galaxy TV’s Jikonkone Rewind.
- Shs 12 million on the first file
- Shs 5 million on the second
- Shs 8 million on the last file
- Plus “other things” that drained his pockets further
The breakdown shows just how much the ordeal weighed on both his finances and career momentum.
Failed Plans With Balaam
Before his arrest, Fik Gaza says he had big plans with events promoter Balaam Barugahara to stage a massive concert — one that could have helped him recoup some of the money.
“I had plans with Balaam to organize a concert before the arrest so I could coup some money, but that didn’t work out,” he admitted.
With the show canceled, the artist says he had no choice but to dig deep into his savings to cover legal expenses
Music First, Concert Later
Despite the setback, Fik Gaza insists he isn’t giving up. He’s already in the studio working on new music, and promises a major show once he’s financially and mentally ready.
“For now, I’m focusing on releasing new music, and then I will organize a show if everything goes as planned,” he shared.

Fans React to His Struggles
Social media has erupted with mixed reactions — some fans sympathizing with the star’s financial struggles, while others question his choices leading to the arrest.
Either way, Gaza’s story highlights the harsh realities artists face when legal troubles collide with careers in Uganda’s competitive entertainment scene.
Final Word
From Shs 30M in court cases to lost concert opportunities, Fik Gaza’s journey has been anything but easy in 2025. But if his words are anything to go by, the singer is determined to bounce back stronger with music at the center of his comeback.
