Ugandan singer Green Daddy, real name Kibalama Vicent Kikabi, has once again found himself in the middle of controversy after giving out what he calls “relationship advice” — but what many fans are labeling as sexist and outdated.

In a recent interview, the “Weekend” hitmaker told men to avoid marrying women who are physically stronger than them, claiming that such relationships could lead to domestic violence and a loss of masculine control in the household.

“Any woman whom you can’t handle physically, never marry her,” Green Daddy warned. “She will beat you and your family members.”

The statement immediately went viral, sparking debate across social media about gender roles, toxic masculinity, and the double standards still present in Uganda’s entertainment scene.

Green Daddy’s Ideal Woman: Younger, Stable, and ‘Not Muscular’

As if that wasn’t enough, Green Daddy went on to describe the kind of woman he envisions marrying — a statement that only fueled the backlash.

According to the singer, his ideal partner must be financially stable but “not too rich,” younger than him, and definitely not as muscular as dancer Ritah Dancehall.

“I want a financially stable woman, younger than me, but not muscular like Ritah Dancehall,” he continued. “I want a woman I can handle — not one who barks back when I talk.”

The comments, which aired on Sanyuka TV’s “UnCut” segment, quickly set the internet ablaze, especially after a clip surfaced online showing the artist confidently doubling down on his words.

Social Media Explodes: Fans Call Out Green Daddy’s ‘Misogynistic’ Remarks

Soon after the clip dropped, fans took to X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, and Instagram to express their outrage. Many accused the singer of promoting gender inequality and toxic behavior, while others sarcastically praised him for “keeping 1950s values alive.”

One fan commented:

“This mindset is exactly why domestic violence still thrives. He’s romanticizing control, not love.”

Another added:

“Green Daddy needs to realize strong women don’t intimidate real men — they inspire them.”

Some users, however, defended the artist, saying he was merely expressing his personal preference, not enforcing a universal rule.

“He didn’t say all men should do that — he’s just being real about what works for him,” one fan argued.

Still, for most viewers, his remarks reinforced stereotypes about women needing to be submissive and men fearing strong partners.

The Ritah Dancehall Comparison That Stirred More Drama

Perhaps the most talked-about part of Green Daddy’s statement was his comparison to Ritah Dancehall, one of Uganda’s most energetic and physically powerful performers.

He mentioned her name while describing the kind of physique he doesn’t want in a woman, saying:

“She must not be as muscular as Ritah Dancehall.”

The reference immediately drew mixed reactions, with Ritah’s fans calling it disrespectful and unnecessary.

Though Ritah herself hasn’t responded publicly, her followers flooded Green Daddy’s comment sections, telling him to “keep her name out of his mouth.”

Green Daddy’s History of Stirring Controversy

This isn’t the first time Green Daddy has made headlines for his outspoken opinions. Known for his unfiltered nature, the singer has previously sparked conversations around relationships, money, and masculinity.

In past interviews, he’s openly stated that he wouldn’t date a woman wealthier than him and that men should always be the dominant partners in a household.

Critics argue that while Green Daddy is entitled to his opinion, his platform comes with influence — and his comments may reinforce harmful gender dynamics among his younger followers.

Fans Question: Is This Just a Publicity Stunt?

Some entertainment insiders suspect the singer might be courting controversy for attention.

With his name trending across platforms, fans speculate that Green Daddy could be gearing up to release new music — possibly leveraging shock value to regain the spotlight.

This wouldn’t be unusual; several Ugandan entertainers have used controversial statements to stay relevant in an increasingly competitive music industry.

Still, others argue that while publicity stunts are common, statements rooted in sexism shouldn’t be excused or normalized.

“If this is about promoting music, he’s doing it the wrong way,” one entertainment blogger posted. “There’s a fine line between being bold and being disrespectful.”

The Bigger Conversation: Masculinity and Fear of Strong Women

Green Daddy’s comments have reignited a broader debate about modern masculinity and men’s insecurities around strong, independent women.

Experts say his remarks reflect a cultural struggle where traditional gender roles are being challenged — and some men feel threatened by empowered women who can hold their own financially or physically.

Sociologist Dr. Annette Kansiime explained in a recent interview that such views often stem from social conditioning, where men equate leadership with dominance.

“The idea that a man must be physically stronger to lead reflects insecurity, not confidence,” she said. “True partnership isn’t about control — it’s about respect.”

What’s Next for Green Daddy?

Despite the backlash, Green Daddy appears unbothered. In follow-up clips posted to his TikTok and Instagram, he reiterated that his comments were taken out of context and that he was simply describing his personal taste, not setting rules for others.

“People love to twist words,” he said. “I only said I want what works for me — that’s all.”

Whether or not this storm will affect his career remains to be seen. For now, he’s trending across social media — which, in entertainment, often means mission accomplished.

Final Thoughts

Green Daddy’s remarks may have been meant as casual advice, but they’ve sparked a real conversation about gender, power, and respect in relationships.

While some fans agree with his perspective, others see it as a reminder of how far society still has to go in breaking free from outdated gender expectations.
