Ugandan politician Hon. Al-Haj Latif Ssebagala has dismissed circulating reports claiming he terminated rising star Felista Di Superstar’s scholarship, calling the rumors baseless and urging those spreading them to seek guidance.
Addressing the press, Hon. Ssebagala emphasized his decades-long commitment to supporting young talent through scholarships.
“Felista is free to go and perform anywhere she gets invited to perform. Those spreading rumors concerning the termination of her scholarship need prayers,” he stated.
Felista’s Performance at NUP HQ Not a Problem
The controversy stemmed from Felista Di Superstar performing at the NUP headquarters during the unveiling of the party’s 2026 manifesto. Some online narratives claimed her scholarship might be in jeopardy because of the appearance.
Hon. Ssebagala clarified there was no wrongdoing on Felista’s part, stressing that her performance was entirely appropriate.
“She did nothing wrong to perform at the NUP headquarters,” he said, reaffirming his support for her career.

Independent Mayor Candidate, Yet Supportive of NUP
Although Hon. Ssebagala is running as an independent candidate for Kawempe Mayor, he made it clear that his support for NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu remains steadfast.
“Despite running independently, I am rooted in supporting President Kyagulanyi and initiatives that uplift talented youth like Felista,” he said.
Fighting Fake News and Supporting the Next Generation
Hon. Ssebagala also took the opportunity to warn the public against fake news, which he says can easily mislead people and tarnish reputations.
“People need to stay alert and avoid believing everything they read online,” he cautioned, promising that his work supporting children through scholarships will continue.
His statement underscores a commitment to nurturing Uganda’s young talent while addressing misinformation that often circulates in the entertainment and political spheres.
