Phiona Nyamutoro, Minister of State for Minerals and aspiring Nebbi Woman MP, has addressed the growing public perception of her as a celebrity, clarifying that her fame comes largely from her marriage to Eddy Kenzo, not from being in the entertainment industry herself.
Speaking to the media after a presidential rally in Nebbi, Nyamutoro said that while she is often treated like a public figure, she doesn’t see herself as an artist or entertainer.
“The media gives me that excitement as if they’ve seen an artist, but I’m not an artist. I miss those days when I would go unnoticed, but it’s Kenzo who blew my cover,” she revealed.
Balancing Public Life and Privacy
The youthful minister admitted that being in the public eye has its perks but also comes with significant loss of privacy. She sometimes longs for the days when she could move freely without being recognized.
“Sometimes we want to be in a private life with family and friends, but now we can’t go to a public place without any interruption or going unnoticed. My friends now have to put in more effort wherever we hang out; we have to ensure privacy,” Nyamutoro explained.
Her words highlight the often overlooked challenges of being married to a celebrity, where personal life becomes a public spectacle and ordinary outings turn into media events.

Not Just a Public Figure: A Politician With Ambitions
While Nyamutoro is increasingly visible in the public sphere, she remains focused on her political career, aspiring to represent Nebbi as Woman MP. She emphasizes that despite the spotlight, her primary focus is on serving her constituency and building a career in public service.
“I enjoy being recognized, but my main goal is to serve the people of Nebbi. Fame is secondary,” she added.
