Ugandan socialite Bad Black, real name Shanita Namuyimbwa, says her Beauty Beyond The Scars initiative came with a major financial burden, despite her efforts to create a platform for women.
Bad Black launched the initiative through her Namuyimbwa Women Initiative with the aim of encouraging women to look beyond their scars and difficult past experiences.
The first edition was held at Skyz Hotel and attracted several notable figures from Uganda’s entertainment industry.

Reflecting on the event, Bad Black revealed that she spent UGX 20 million on food alone, saying the money was still not enough because some women attended without purchasing tickets.
The financial strain was followed by criticism, which Bad Black said contributed to her decision to close the Beauty Beyond The Scars chapter.
She said she subsequently removed posters and videos related to the initiative from her social media accounts, signaling that she had decided to move on.
“I gave up on it, I let it go and moved on. I even deleted every content about it from my social media handles. My socials are about my man and my children,” Bad Black said.

She then said she planned to redirect her money toward herself, specifically mentioning plans to purchase a 2025 Range Rover Sport.
“I will survive without Beauty Beyond The Scars. Actually I’m buying the 2025 Range Rover Sport,” she added.
Despite walking away from the event, Bad Black said she remains proud of what she attempted to accomplish and the effort she put into helping women.
She also clarified that she intends to retain the Namuyimbwa Women Initiative and seek international funding for it, although she said any future funding would benefit her personally.
“Forgive me for introducing Beauty Beyond the Scars. Forgive me for bringing my idea that didn’t concern you and for all that didn’t go well, I apologise for that too,” she said.
Bad Black added that she would not repeat the project in its previous form.
“I apologise and I will never do it again,” she said.
She maintained that the company behind the initiative, Namuyimbwa Women Initiative, remains hers and that she registered it herself.
“The company behind it Namuyimbwa Women Initiative, I will source international funders for it. When you see me driving a Brabus, just know it is my initiative. I registered it alone,” she said.
For now, Bad Black appears to be leaving Beauty Beyond The Scars behind while retaining the initiative she created and shifting her focus elsewhere.
