Pastor Mondo Mugisha has expressed interest in acquiring Ugandan Pentecostal broadcaster Top TV and Radio, revealing that he is prepared to offer UGX 1.5 billion for the media outlet.
The pastor announced his proposal through his TikTok account following reports circulating on social media about the station’s financial and regulatory situation.
Recent rumours alleged that the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) had revoked Top TV’s broadcasting licence over unpaid licence fees. Other claims suggested that the broadcaster was struggling to pay staff salaries and considering selling its property.
However, the claims about the licence revocation and the station’s alleged financial difficulties have not been independently established in the information available.

Responding to the reports, Mondo said he was willing to take over the television and radio stations for UGX 1.5 billion. He also revealed that he had instructed his legal team to initiate the proposed transaction, subject to approval from the station’s owner.
The pastor further indicated that he was prepared to address outstanding regulatory obligations should the acquisition proceed. He said he was willing to settle the alleged debt and relocate the station’s broadcasting equipment to a location of his choice.
Mondo explained that his interest was driven by a desire to preserve the broadcaster’s religious foundation and gospel mission rather than dismantle an established Christian media platform.
He also mentioned plans to purchase land in Bwaise, claiming that a 50 per cent down payment was available as part of his proposed arrangements.
The announcement has introduced a possible new development for Top TV and Radio, although several details surrounding the proposed acquisition remain unclear.
It has not been established whether the station’s owner has accepted Mondo’s offer, whether a formal sale agreement has been signed or whether the reported UGX 1.5 billion proposal includes the broadcaster’s property and other assets.
For now, Mondo’s announcement represents an expression of interest rather than a completed acquisition. Any takeover would depend on an agreement with the owner and the necessary regulatory processes.
The development comes as the pastor continues to attract public attention through his religious activities and personal life.
Whether his proposed purchase will move forward now depends on the response from Top TV and Radio’s ownership.
