Ugandan singer John Blaq has revealed that he has survived three accidents during his music career while naming Vyroota as the artist he believes has stood out the most this year.
Reflecting on the Ugandan music scene, John Blaq singled out Vyroota for his musical performance and said he deserves recognition as the year’s standout artist.
“Musically, Vyroota has outperformed this year and I give him the award of best artist of the year,” John Blaq said.
He also acknowledged the work of other artists, including Latty Neika, himself and Kapeke.
“Latty Neika has also had a good performing song and myself I had the ‘Langi’ song and Kapeke also has done well,” he added.

Away from music, John Blaq revealed that he has survived three accidents so far, with the first occurring in 2022.
According to the singer, the 2022 accident left him without his car and forced him to replace the vehicle, adding another financial challenge to the pressures that come with his music career.
John Blaq also addressed the difficulties Ugandan artists face when trying to pursue international collaborations.
While working with artists from other countries can potentially expand an artist’s audience, he said the costs associated with travelling, recording and promoting such projects can be a major barrier.
“If you had like 100K USD, you’d travel to places like UK with the artist and push, but since we don’t have the money, it’s hard to even get a ticket to Nigeria to work with them and that’s why we wait for most of them to first come to Uganda,” he said.
His comments highlight the financial realities behind international collaborations, where artists may need more than just a strong song to turn a cross-border partnership into a major promotional opportunity.
For now, John Blaq believes Vyroota has done enough musically to stand out this year, while his own journey has included both career milestones and difficult experiences away from the stage.
