Rising Ugandan singer Dwiz Playboy has accused Sheebah Karungi of copying his song, Bukutu, after she teamed up with fellow singer Karole Kasita to release a track bearing the same title.
The allegation has put the two versions of Bukutu in the spotlight, with Dwiz claiming that his song was released in 2025, long before the established singers unveiled their collaboration.
According to Dwiz, he uploaded his version to online music platforms, including YouTube. He says he was surprised when Sheebah released a song with the same name, raising questions about the timing of the two releases.
However, the available information does not establish whether the songs share similar lyrics, melodies, production elements or other musical features beyond their titles.

Dwiz also used a recent interview to discuss his journey into the music industry, revealing that both he and his manager previously pursued football before deciding to focus on music professionally.
The singer further claimed that when they began exploring a career in music, they approached Sheebah during the launch of Karma Music for auditions. According to Dwiz, he believes he was among the strongest performers during that opportunity.
Now, the release of Sheebah and Karole Kasita’s Bukutu has become a source of concern for the upcoming artist. Dwiz believes the attention surrounding the collaboration could hurt his career by drawing listeners away from his own song.
For a rising musician trying to establish his name in Uganda’s competitive entertainment industry, having a track share its title with a release by two established singers could create a challenge in attracting attention. However, the extent of any impact on Dwiz’s career has not been independently established.
The dispute also raises an important distinction: sharing a song title does not, by itself, establish that one artist copied another. Determining whether there are substantive similarities would require a closer comparison of the two recordings and any relevant evidence concerning their creation and release.
As of publication, neither Sheebah Karungi nor Karole Kasita had publicly responded to Dwiz’s allegations.
For now, the central question remains unanswered: do the two versions of Bukutu share musical similarities, or is the dispute primarily about the use of the same title? Without further evidence or a response from the artists involved, the copying allegation remains Dwiz Playboy’s claim.
