Joshua Baraka has revealed that he briefly considered choosing Michael Jackson’s career over his own before deciding that he would rather continue his personal journey in music.
The Ugandan singer made the revelation during a recent podcast conversation when he was asked to choose between his own career and that of another artist.
Michael Jackson initially came to mind for Baraka, given the late superstar’s extraordinary career and global success. But after considering the challenges that came with Jackson’s life in the spotlight, Baraka quickly reconsidered.
“I would’ve chosen Michael Jackson but we all know how that ended, so I’ll just choose myself,” Baraka said.
His answer reflected a broader point about the realities behind successful music careers. Baraka noted that the industry is difficult and that artists who reach the highest levels of fame often have complicated stories and struggles behind their achievements.
For him, the appeal of another artist’s success cannot be separated from the experiences that came with it. Even careers that appear enviable from the outside can involve significant personal and professional challenges.
