Tacha Akide has finally addressed the long-running controversy surrounding her famous chest tattoo, insisting that the artwork was never an image of Afrobeats superstar Davido.
The former Big Brother Naija housemate explained that the tattoo actually featured the face of a child, but widespread speculation and misinformation led many people to believe she had permanently inked Davido’s face on her body.
Speaking during an appearance on the Thanks For Coming Podcast, the reality TV star said the misunderstanding had become so widely accepted that correcting it would probably have made little difference.
“The tattoo wasn’t Davido’s face, it was a kid’s face, but people thought it was Davido,” Tacha explained.
She also revealed why she eventually decided to cover the tattoo, saying people change as they grow older and sometimes move away from things that once appealed to them.
According to Tacha, covering the artwork was not necessarily about responding to the public conversation but about recognising that personal tastes and preferences evolve.
“I covered it because people grow,” she said.
The entrepreneur added that misinformation had played a major role in shaping the public’s perception of the tattoo. By the time the story gained widespread attention, she felt many people had already accepted the Davido narrative as fact.
“It was misinformation. Even if I cleared the air, people would still run with it. I covered it because people grow,” she added.
Her latest explanation revisits a controversy that attracted considerable attention online, particularly because of the speculation linking her body art to one of Africa’s biggest music stars.

Tacha Also Questions BBNaija’s Future
Away from the tattoo discussion, Tacha has also shared her thoughts on the future of Big Brother Naija.
The reality TV star recently advised the show’s organisers to consider taking a break and developing fresh ideas to keep the programme relevant.
She argued that entertainment consumption has changed significantly, with social media platforms now competing directly with traditional television for viewers’ attention.
Tacha believes BBNaija became popular during a period when social media did not have the same influence it has today. She suggested that the show needs a different approach to maintain audience interest in the current entertainment landscape.
Her comments highlight two subjects she believes deserve attention: how public narratives can become established through misinformation and how entertainment platforms must evolve as audience habits change.
