Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez says Burna Boy is the inspiration behind the energy he is bringing to his music this year, revealing that he wants to collaborate with the Grammy-winning singer as he promotes his latest album, NOMADINHO: 4TH PRIME.
During a recent interview, the Chocolate City Music artist opened up about his admiration for Burna Boy and recalled an encounter with the Afrobeats superstar at a nightclub last year. According to Blaqbonez, he used the opportunity to ask when the two artists would finally work on a joint project.
The exchange apparently came with a playful response from Burna Boy.
“I would love to do a collab with Burna Boy. When I met Burna Boy in the club last year, I asked him, ‘Haffa, when are we doing our joint project?’ and he replied, ‘Na you no serious na.’ The energy I’m on this year is inspired by Burna Boy,” Blaqbonez said.
Blaqbonez’s account offers a glimpse into the mindset behind his current musical direction. While he has expressed interest in working with Burna Boy, his comments do not establish whether a collaboration or joint project is currently in development.
For now, the rapper is focused on NOMADINHO: 4TH PRIME, his fifth studio album, which arrived on October 16, 2026, through Chocolate City Music.
The 15-track release follows his 2025 album, No Excuses, and its deluxe edition, which came out in April 2026. The new project marks his latest release as he continues to build on his position in Nigeria’s hip-hop scene.
Burna Boy’s influence on Blaqbonez’s current approach is particularly notable because the two artists operate across different but overlapping areas of Nigeria’s contemporary music landscape. Blaqbonez is known for his hip-hop identity, while Burna Boy has built an international profile through Afrobeats and a genre-blending sound.
Blaqbonez has made his interest in a collaboration clear, but his nightclub recollection leaves one major question unanswered: will the two Nigerian stars turn that conversation into music?
For now, NOMADINHO: 4TH PRIME is out, and Blaqbonez says Burna Boy’s energy is helping shape the direction he is taking this year.
