Ugandan singer Brian Avie has alleged that witchcraft is widespread in the country’s music industry, claiming that some artists resort to supernatural practices in attempts to undermine their competitors.
Speaking to Galaxy TV, the singer rejected suggestions that such accounts were simply rumours, insisting that musicians experience situations that outsiders may struggle to understand.
“It’s not rumours. The industry is indeed full of people sending each other juju to put them down,” Brian Avie said.
His remarks raise questions about the beliefs and experiences he associates with competition in the music business. However, the singer did not identify any specific artists he accused of engaging in the alleged practices, and his claims have not been independently verified.

Brian Avie said his own experiences had prompted him to take a step back and reflect on his life, suggesting that some incidents had left him thinking deeply about what he had gone through.
“There are things we go through that people wouldn’t understand because they are deep, but for me, I had laid back to analyse and self-reflect on myself,” he added.
The singer also expressed sympathy with fellow musician Sama Sojah, whose account reportedly involved disturbing dreams featuring lions and other frightening experiences.
Brian Avie said he could relate to that account, claiming he had experienced unusual incidents of his own.
Among the examples he shared was an incident on the Entebbe Expressway, where he said a large butterfly suddenly obstructed his driver’s view, nearly resulting in an accident.
“We were once at Entebbe Express and a huge butterfly came and covered my driver’s view, and we almost got an accident,” he recounted.
Brian Avie did not provide further details about the incident in the supplied account. His description reflects his interpretation of an alarming experience, but it does not establish that witchcraft was involved.
The singer’s comments add to the conversations surrounding rivalry, personal beliefs and the pressures artists may associate with life in the entertainment industry.
While Brian Avie stands by his account, his broader allegations remain claims rather than verified evidence of supernatural practices being used against musicians.
