National Unity Platform (NUP) president Bobi Wine has paid an emotional tribute to comedian and entertainer Kapere Lufotose, remembering him as a beautiful soul, patriot and friend whose life made a lasting impact on those around him.
Kapere, whose real name was Yokana Mbuuse, passed away on November 1, leaving family members, friends and people in Uganda’s entertainment industry mourning his death.
In a heartfelt message, Bobi Wine reflected on the different names by which the late comedian was known, highlighting the special place he occupied in the lives of those who knew him personally.
“His parents named Mbuuse Yokana, the world knew him as Kapere Lufotose and his friends called him Taata Twamp,” Bobi Wine wrote.
The NUP leader described Kapere as a sincere and kind-hearted person whose character went beyond his public identity. He said he was among the many people who had been fortunate enough to experience the comedian’s friendship.
Bobi Wine also praised Kapere for embracing who he was, allowing his personality and heart to define him rather than his physical appearance.

Beyond his comedy, the singer-turned-politician remembered him as a devoted husband and a talented entertainer who understood the influence of his voice and chose to use it in service of his country.
He further celebrated Kapere’s sense of humour, saying the comedian had a special ability to bring light into difficult moments. His tribute painted a picture of a man who lived with purpose and made meaningful connections with people around him.
Bobi Wine also extended his condolences to Kapere’s wife, Maama Twamp, and their children, asking God to give the family strength and comfort as they navigate the loss.
“To Maama Twamp and the children, may God give you strength and comfort in the days ahead,” he wrote, assuring them that they would not face the difficult period alone.
He concluded his message by reflecting on the comedian’s legacy and the personal impact their friendship had on him.
“Rest peacefully, my man. Your contribution will not be forgotten, and your spirit will live on in the lives you touched, including myself. Wumula mirembe, chali wange,” Bobi Wine wrote.
Kapere is expected to be laid to rest on Tuesday in Mukono, as family, friends and well-wishers prepare to bid farewell to the entertainer.
His death marks a loss for those who knew him personally and audiences who came to recognise him through his comedy and public presence.
