Sean “Diddy” Combs has a preferred prison in mind as he prepares to serve out his 50-month federal sentence — and it’s FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey.
Teny Geragos, one of Diddy’s attorneys, sent a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian on Monday, asking the court to recommend that the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) assign Diddy to the low-security federal correctional institution. TMZ obtained the letter.
Legal Team Cites Rehab and Family Needs
Diddy’s attorneys argue that Fort Dix is ideal because it would allow him to:
- Address drug abuse issues
- Maximize family visitation
- Engage in rehabilitative programs
Geragos previously warned that Diddy will be a high-profile target in any federal facility, claiming someone had already plotted to harm him. During sentencing last Friday, the legal team noted the potential for danger inside prison walls.

FCI Fort Dix: Celebrity History
Fort Dix has housed other celebrities, including “Real Housewives of New Jersey” stars Teresa and Joe Giudice, who served time for fraud convictions.
While Judge Subramanian can recommend a facility, the BOP ultimately decides where federal inmates are placed. Diddy’s choice reflects his team’s desire for both safety and access to rehabilitation resources during his sentence.
Current Status
Diddy has already spent over a year at MDC Brooklyn. He faces more than two years in federal prison, and it remains to be seen if the BOP will honor his team’s recommendation or assign him elsewhere.
On a lighter note, sources checked the commissary at FCI Fort Dix: herbal oil and prayer oil are available, as is baby powder, but unfortunately, baby oil is not.
What’s Next
The prison recommendation process is ongoing, and fans, media, and industry insiders are watching closely. Where Diddy will ultimately serve his sentence remains one of the most talked-about prison placement stories of the year.
