Ugandan gospel sensation Gabie Ntaate has opened up about the uphill battle faced by gospel artists in the country’s competitive music scene, revealing that it’s not always smooth sailing even for talented performers.

Speaking on BBS TV, Ntaate highlighted that gospel musicians often have to work twice as hard to gain recognition compared to their secular counterparts.

“We can’t fail, and as I see, we have improved because back then it was a cave where they’d worship the same faces of artists. But now there are many singing, and people are appreciating them,” Ntaate explained.

Her remarks shed light on both the progress and the persistent challenges in Uganda’s gospel music industry, where talent alone doesn’t guarantee success.

Gospel Artists Work Harder for Recognition

Ntaate stressed that despite the growing popularity of gospel music, artists still face unseen challenges and unfair practices behind the scenes.

“If you know you’re standing on God, stay there, and there’s no place where there isn’t competition or foul play, especially when you’ve reached somewhere,” she said.

Her candid reflection points to the pressure gospel musicians face, not only in competing for fans and airtime but also in navigating an industry where politics, favoritism, and unfair practices can influence success.

Growth Amidst Challenges

Despite the hurdles, Ntaate remains optimistic about the future of gospel music in Uganda. She noted that the scene has expanded significantly compared to the past, with more artists gaining visibility and recognition.

“Back then it was a cave where they’d worship the same faces of artists. But now there are many singing, and people are appreciating them,” she shared.

This growth, she said, is encouraging for young and upcoming gospel artists who aspire to make a mark while maintaining their faith-based message.

The Reality Behind the Spotlight

Ntaate’s insights reveal that the gospel music industry is far from just spiritual praise and performance; it’s a space where talent meets real-world challenges.

Competition is fierce, and even artists who are deeply committed to their craft must navigate foul play, favoritism, and industry politics to stay relevant and succeed.

For Ntaate, the key is resilience and faith. Standing firm in one’s beliefs, she argues, is the only way to survive and thrive in an environment that can sometimes be unforgiving.

“Gabie Ntaate is speaking the truth. It’s not easy for gospel artists to get the same recognition as secular stars.”

“This shows how much courage it takes to remain faithful and talented while facing industry politics.”

Looking Ahead

With her continued success, Gabie Ntaate remains a beacon for gospel musicians aspiring to balance faith, talent, and industry demands. Her candid observations remind both fans and fellow artists that while gospel music is on the rise, the journey is still full of challenges that require hard work, faith, and perseverance.

“Stay grounded, work hard, and don’t be distracted by foul play,” she advised aspiring artists.
