A bizarre bar dispute in Port St. Lucie, Florida, escalated to gunfire Tuesday morning, leaving local authorities stunned — but fortunately, no one was hurt.
Police say 44-year-old Peter Riera got into an argument outside Harper’s Pub over the number of eggs chickens can lay — and things quickly spiraled out of control.
🔫 From Heated Debate to Gunfire
According to cops, the disagreement involved three other people, whom Riera claimed were attempting to con him.
“Riera raises chickens, and the dispute was about how many eggs chickens can lay,” cops told WPTV-TV.
For reasons unknown, the argument escalated, and Riera allegedly fired four shots from a .45-caliber Glock.
Police body camera footage obtained by TMZ shows Riera being taken into custody shortly after the incident.
🍻 Alcohol May Have Played a Role
Authorities note that everyone involved had been drinking at the time, which likely contributed to the situation spiraling out of control.
Miraculously, no injuries were reported, despite the gunfire and chaos.
⚖️ Arrests and Legal Trouble
Riera is currently being held without bond and faces multiple criminal charges related to the incident.
In an unusual twist, two of the people he allegedly fired at were arrested during the police response for resisting officers.
As of now, there’s no word on who is caring for Riera’s chickens while he remains in custody.
💬 Public Reaction
Social media erupted with reactions ranging from shock to humor:
“Only in Florida… arguing about eggs and pulling a gun.”
“Glad no one was hurt, but imagine your chickens being the cause of this!”
The story serves as a wild reminder that bar debates can take unexpected turns — especially when guns are involved.
