The Ugandan socialite says she has visited traditional shrines several times and that her spiritual beliefs have evolved over the years.
Ugandan socialite Bad Black, real name Shanitah Namuyibwa, has made a striking revelation about her spiritual journey, claiming that she has practiced witchcraft and regularly visited traditional shrines.
The socialite made the comments during a recent interview after being asked whether she had ever bewitched someone.
Bad Black responded without hesitation, saying she has visited traditional shrines on numerous occasions and is familiar with traditional practices, including using an Emindi, a traditional tobacco pipe.
“Yes, very much. You’re talking about practicing witchcraft? I even know how to puff a tobacco pipe (Emindi). I have entered a traditional shrine, and it’s not once or twice, but I do it often.”
She went on to make a reference to her clan’s traditional beliefs, saying:
“Even our clan’s traditional ghosts sit on my head.”
Why Bad Black Says She Visits Shrines
Bad Black explained that her visits to traditional shrines are largely connected to personal and family matters.
According to the socialite, she sometimes turns to traditional practices when she wants things to work out smoothly, particularly when it comes to her children and household.
“Most of the time, I’m a deal breaker, and since I’m soft-hearted, I always want my stuff to go through smoothly, make my children happy and make sure me and my family household are happy.”
She added that she could also turn to witchcraft against someone who she believes has oppressed or wronged her.
“However, when you oppress me, I can deal with you, and witchcraft works.”
Bad Black Says Her Faith Has Changed
Asked whether she chooses God or witchcraft, Bad Black described her spiritual journey as something that has changed over time.
She revealed that she studied the Quran and became Born Again while serving a prison sentence, but said her beliefs have since evolved.
“It also works, but depending on the season. I studied the Quran and got Born Again during my term in prison, but it depends on where I get success. The more I have grown, I’m becoming a pagan.”
Bad Black also said she stopped attending church in December 2024.
Instead, she now says she seeks guidance from her ancestors before turning to biblical teachings.
“I have a whole generation behind me. I don’t believe in cursing generational demons through prayers. I seek the guidance of my forefathers before I talk about Jacob in the Bible.”
Despite describing herself as increasingly drawn to traditional beliefs, Bad Black maintained that she remains a believer.
She acknowledged, however, that her approach to spirituality can vary depending on her mood and circumstances.
“I’m a believer, but it depends on my moods. I’m a believer, but sometimes one needs to seek their consultancy.”
Bad Black’s comments add another chapter to the socialite’s often unconventional public persona, this time offering a candid look at the different religious and traditional beliefs she says have shaped her spiritual journey.
