Next Media Group journalist Brian Macona has returned to the Next Media Park after spending several months away from the newsroom recovering from a life-threatening accident that left him with serious injuries.
The accident, which occurred a few months ago, claimed the lives of two of Macona’s colleagues. Macona survived but suffered heavy injuries that required extensive medical treatment, including time in the ICU.
After months focused on his recovery, Macona was welcomed back to Next Media Park, where his colleagues and bosses organized a celebration to mark his return.

The journalist expressed his gratitude for the reception, saying surviving the accident has given him an even deeper appreciation for life.
“God has a purpose as to why I’m alive today, and I don’t take that for granted,” Macona said.
His return marks a significant moment after a difficult period away from his regular media duties. Rather than simply viewing his survival as a recovery milestone, Macona described it as a second chance at life.
Now, he says he is ready to return to the work he loves. The journalist summed up his mood with a confident message to his colleagues and audience.
“I’m back bigger and better,” he said.
Macona will officially resume his work duties next week, bringing his extended absence from the media space to an end.
His return to the Next Media Park comes with a perspective shaped by an experience that could have ended very differently. For Macona, being back in the newsroom is more than a return to work — it is an opportunity he says he does not take for granted.
