Ugandan singer Ceaserous, whose real name is Solomon Sentongo, has explained why he stepped away from the music scene at the end of 2018, revealing that personal challenges forced him to take a break despite his success with the hit song “Dangerous.”
The singer enjoyed a major breakthrough with the track, which became one of Uganda’s biggest hits at the time and helped establish him as a sought-after young artist. With regular bookings and growing demand for his performances, Ceaserous had built considerable momentum before his prolonged absence from the spotlight.
However, his decision to step back did not mean he had abandoned music altogether.
Speaking during a media interview, Ceaserous said he officially took a break at the end of 2018 to deal with personal challenges. He continued recording songs during that period but chose not to release them.
“During this time, I still recorded music but never released it. This is what I have come to rectify. Music can never fade for as long as you are talented,” he said.
The revelation suggests that the singer has continued developing his craft away from the public eye, even as listeners have had fewer opportunities to hear new material from him.
Now, Ceaserous says he is paying attention to the changing sounds shaping Uganda’s music industry as he works to remain relevant in an increasingly competitive market.
Rather than rushing to follow every new trend, he explained that he takes time to study popular sounds and anticipate what could gain traction next. He also believes his established audience gives him an advantage over artists trying to build a name from scratch.
“It is good that artists are active because that shows that the industry is growing. The sound keeps changing. I take time to research the trending sounds and predict what will come up,” he said.
The singer added that he feels no pressure to approach his career as a newcomer because his music has already connected with a supportive fanbase.

“There is no pressure because my art is unique and I have an audience that is supportive. It is not like I’m just starting out,” he said.
Despite his time away from releasing music, Ceaserous said he has remained active in the studio, working on material for his fans. He also indicated that he has continued accepting bookings and performing at shows.
His comments point to a distinction between being absent from music releases and stepping away from performing altogether. Although he kept much of his recorded material unreleased, he says his involvement in music has continued.
For now, the singer’s focus appears to be on bringing previously unreleased work into the public domain while adapting to the industry’s evolving sound. After years of keeping songs in the vault, Ceaserous says he has music to share—and believes his talent and existing fanbase give him a foundation to build on.
