The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Lino Anguzu, has clarified that Rose Tusiime, who was with late Afrigo Band singer Moses Matovu on the night he was fatally attacked, will not be charged in connection with his death.
Instead, Anguzu said Tusiime is expected to become a prosecution witness in the case against Vincent Arnold Nsamba, also known as Sitenda, who is facing proceedings over Matovu’s death.
The clarification comes after Tusiime’s role in the events surrounding Matovu’s final hours attracted public attention, with questions raised over why she was not placed in the dock alongside Nsamba.

According to the DPP, however, the prosecution does not intend to charge Tusiime over Matovu’s death.
Matovu died on September 24, 2026, after he was allegedly attacked in Kibuli Market Zone B in Makindye Division.
Nsamba was subsequently arrested and remanded to Luzira Prison in connection with the case.
Tusiime is now expected to provide evidence for the prosecution as the case against Nsamba progresses.
The development provides the prosecution’s position on Tusiime’s status in the case: she is not being treated as an accused person but is expected to assist the prosecution as a witness.
Nsamba’s case is scheduled to come up for hearing on November 3, 2026.
The circumstances surrounding Matovu’s final hours and the events that allegedly preceded his death remain at the centre of the proceedings, with the court expected to consider evidence as the case moves forward.
