DVDAFROKING and Abaddie_gyal are taking their creative partnership into another major Ugandan production, with the two dance creatives set to work on Rachel Magoola’s 60 Years celebration in November at Kingdom Kampala.
The collaboration is the latest chapter in a working relationship that has developed across several high-profile live productions, beginning with the first Lydia Jazmine show before continuing through the A Pass concert and another Lydia Jazmine production.
Rather than being built around a single performance, their partnership has developed through repeated opportunities to work on choreography, movement, stage performance and the broader demands of live entertainment.
Their journey began with Lydia Jazmine’s first show, where the two creatives worked together on the production. They later reunited for A Pass’ concert before returning to another Lydia Jazmine production.
Each project brought a different performance environment, while allowing the pair to develop a shared understanding of preparation, movement and stage execution.
Behind the Abaddie_gyal name is Charity Abadhi, a professional choreographer, creative director and movement director whose documented portfolio includes work with Ugandan artists such as Sheebah, Cindy, Bebe Cool, A Pass, Eddy Kenzo, Azawi, Vinka, Elijah Kitaka and Karole Kasita.
Her international work has also included artists such as Awilo Longomba, Orezi, Rema, Joeboy, Skales, Harmonize and Charly na Nina. Her professional profile highlights experience in creative direction, artist coaching, stage direction and movement direction.
Her recent work includes choreography for Vinka’s concert, while she has also been announced as Head Choreographer for Rachel Magoola’s 60 Years celebration.
DVDAFROKING, whose real name is David Ssembatya, has built his own profile through competitive dance, choreography, live performance and digital influence.
His credits include Sheebah Karungi’s two-day Serena concert, Dax Vibez’s All White Concert and the Sheebah vs Cindy battle. He has also worked on performances for artists including Sheebah, Ykee Benda, Lydia Jazmine and A Pass.
Ssembatya’s competitive achievements include becoming a National Champion for Sprite RAKAS, winning the 2018 Styleyanke competition and becoming the 2023 LGD National Dance Champion. He was also recognised as Pulse Dance Influencer of the Year for 2025/2026 and is a Tusker Lite Ambassador.
Now, the two creatives are preparing for their next major stage assignment with Rachel Magoola.
The November production will bring together their individual experience in choreography, movement direction and performance as part of a celebration marking Magoola’s 60 years.
