Ugandan singer Kazibwe Kapo has been accused by a woman identified as Jamirah Nabaweesi of failing to support a child she says they share, with the mother alleging that she has struggled to meet the child’s medical and daily needs without his assistance.
Nabaweesi claims the child has experienced recurrent illnesses, some of which have reportedly required oxygen support. She alleges that Kapo has provided little or no financial assistance towards the child’s upkeep and treatment.
According to her account, their relationship began after they met at an event in Kiboga, where Kapo had travelled to perform alongside fellow singer Abdul Mulaasi.
The two reportedly struck up a conversation, exchanged telephone numbers and later became romantically involved. Nabaweesi claims the relationship resulted in her pregnancy.
Mother says singer became difficult to reach
Nabaweesi alleges that Kapo became difficult to contact after learning about the pregnancy, leaving her to navigate the pregnancy and childbirth without the support she expected from him.
She says she later had another opportunity to reach the singer when he and his team returned to Kiboga for a performance. By then, she claims, the child was six years old.
According to Nabaweesi, she had just returned from hospital, where the child had been admitted, when she learned about the performance. She approached Kapo’s manager, identified as Kalule, and explained her situation.
She claims the manager allowed her into the venue and helped her get in touch with the singer, enabling her to obtain his telephone number again.

However, Nabaweesi alleges that reconnecting with Kapo did not lead to a significant change in the situation. She claims that her subsequent attempts to seek financial help for the child’s treatment have often gone unanswered.
She further alleges that, on occasions when the singer answers her calls, he offers little response to her concerns.
The mother says the situation has caused her considerable distress as she continues to shoulder the responsibility of caring for the child.
Allegations emerge amid Kapo’s DNA testing appeal
The claims come amid reports that Kapo recently called on women who say they have children with him to bring them forward for DNA testing to establish paternity.
According to the supplied account, the singer said he wanted to resolve questions surrounding the children’s paternity to avoid potential complications involving inheritance and family responsibilities after his death.
The reported appeal adds another dimension to the allegations raised by Nabaweesi, whose account concerns both financial support and the circumstances surrounding the child’s paternity.
However, the available information does not establish whether a DNA test has been conducted in this particular case or whether paternity has been legally established.
As of publication, Kapo had not publicly responded to Nabaweesi’s allegations concerning the child’s upkeep, medical expenses or paternity.
For now, the claims remain Nabaweesi’s account of the situation, and the singer’s response has yet to be heard.
