Legendary Kadongo Kamu singer Kazibwe Kappo has responded to allegations from a woman claiming he has neglected his responsibilities to their alleged daughter.
The woman, identified as Nabaweesi Jamirah, recently appeared on a television programme claiming that Kazibwe is the father of her daughter but had failed to take responsibility for the child.
Nabaweesi alleged that she met Kazibwe in 2006 when the singer and fellow musician Abdu Mulaasi performed in her village in Kyankwanzi. She claimed the two had an encounter and that Kazibwe left her with his phone number, asking her to contact him if she ever needed anything.
According to Nabaweesi, she later discovered that she was pregnant and attempted to contact the singer but was unsuccessful. She subsequently took the matter to the media.

Kazibwe has now disputed the way the issue was handled, saying he would have preferred the matter to be resolved privately.
In a YouTube interview, the singer said he had previously asked women who claim to have children with him to come forward so that DNA tests could be conducted.
“Even when the results confirm that she is my child, I will still carry the other feeling that her mother annoyed me when she went to the news,” Kazibwe said.
He added that he believes Nabaweesi’s decision to speak publicly made it appear as though he was denying the child.
“She thought she was tarnishing my brand but I was not this person in my 30s. Besides, I had not denied my child, I suggested we go for the DNA and you chose the news,” he said.
Kazibwe said blood samples have already been obtained and that DNA testing will now be conducted to establish whether he is the biological father of the girl.
The singer also indicated that the outcome of the test will determine the next step regarding the paternity claim.
For now, the paternity of the alleged daughter remains unresolved pending the DNA results, while Kazibwe maintains that he had not rejected the child and had instead called for testing to establish the facts.
