George Mulindwa’s Lovers ReggaeFest is returning to Massachusetts on February 13, 2027, for its fifth edition, bringing live reggae, dinner and a celebration of romance to the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Woburn.
The event, built around reggae’s romantic subgenre known as lovers rock, has grown from a gathering that primarily attracted Ugandans and other East Africans into a celebration drawing an expanding Caribbean audience. Its fifth edition will carry the theme “Gratitude,” recognising the community support behind the event’s growth.
For Mulindwa, Lovers ReggaeFest offers more than a night of music. It creates a space for couples, friends and families to reconnect, dress up and share an evening shaped by love, live performances and dancing.
The event’s musical centrepiece is the Conscious Reggae Band, whose members come from Jamaica and neighbouring Caribbean islands. The group has performed with Mulindwa for more than a decade and is expected to return for the upcoming edition.

Mulindwa’s connection to reggae began in Uganda, where he developed his career as an artist and worked at Radio Simba before carrying his passion for the genre into the diaspora.
He has credited the community’s continued support for helping the event develop into an anticipated Valentine’s season gathering. Among those recognised for their contributions are Maureen Asiimwe of the Uganda Boston Community Association, Damali Nanfuka of Spirit of Uganda, Geofrey Kaweesa, Nsereko Simple and Geofrey Kawesa of Radio Uganda Boston, alongside fellow artists and supporters.
The event also offers prizes for guests who embrace its formal, romantic atmosphere. The best-dressed man and woman will each receive $500, while the winning couple will be awarded a night in a hotel suite. Tickets are priced at $150, covering dinner and entertainment.
Following last year’s appearance by Mesach Semakula, the upcoming programme is expected to feature Madagascar’s Reu-Niza, Safia Leslie, Karitas Kario, Angela Kalule, Amanda Nas, Grace Sekamate and Bruno Semax.
Ugandan radio personalities and MCs Ruth Wanyana and Patriko Mujuuka are also expected to return after hosting last year’s edition.
With its fifth edition approaching, Lovers ReggaeFest is continuing to build a tradition around live reggae, romance and community connection. The February 13 gathering will bring together audiences from different backgrounds, with music providing a shared reason to celebrate.
