Ugandan singer Lydia Jazmine has made one thing clear about her future marriage: finding a man who is serious about settling down with her will not mean giving up music.
The singer says music has become far more than a career. It is a passion so deeply connected to her life that stepping away from it would affect her emotionally.
Speaking in a recent interview, Lydia explained that she cannot imagine suddenly stopping music or no longer releasing songs for her fans.
“Some of us, music is passion. It’s something that if not done, I would feel sick.”
For Lydia, that means any man who hopes to build a life with her would have to understand that music comes with the package.
Rather than expecting her to abandon her career, she said a loving partner should support her ambitions and be willing to build alongside her.
“I think the best a man would do is support me, move the journey with me and build me.”
Lydia also pointed to other married musicians who have continued making music as evidence that marriage and an active entertainment career do not have to be mutually exclusive.
She acknowledged, however, that marriage would likely require adjustments to parts of her lifestyle.
The singer said she would be willing to navigate those changes together with her husband, depending on the understanding and terms they establish within their marriage.
What she does not want, however, is a relationship that forces her to choose between her husband and the music she loves.
Lydia said one of her prayers is to find a man who is genuinely serious about marriage while also understanding the importance of music in her life and supporting the journey she has built as an artist.
For now, her message is straightforward: marriage may change some things, but quitting music is not on the table.
