Ugandan musician Martha Mukisa has pushed back against body-shaming on social media, saying she is comfortable with her natural body and has no plans to undergo cosmetic surgery to satisfy other people.
Martha acknowledged that social media can be toxic, particularly when people turn their attention to how others look. However, she said online criticism has not changed how she feels about her appearance.
“I’ll not do surgery on any part of my body and I’ll remain sexy as I am,” Martha said.
The singer added that she considers herself a very sexy woman and believes she already has the physical attributes that some women seek through plastic surgery.

Martha clarified that she is not opposed to people choosing cosmetic procedures for themselves, but questioned why some people feel the need to constantly criticize other people’s appearances.
“I’m actually not against people who do plastic surgery and make their bodies look better, but I don’t understand the people who always have something negative to say.”
Her comments come after she encountered various remarks about her body online, including a recent comment suggesting that Fresh Diary should make her an ambassador because of her breasts.
Rather than allowing such remarks to undermine her confidence, Martha said they have had the opposite effect.
“When people see you in a better place, they always think that what weakens them will weaken you too,” she said, explaining that what others believe could bring her down instead motivates her to push toward a better position.
Martha also questioned why society has seemingly become less accepting of Black women and self-love, arguing that people should not allow external standards to dictate how they feel about their bodies.
For the singer, the issue is ultimately about being comfortable with who she is rather than changing her appearance because of criticism.
She encouraged people, particularly women, to embrace their bodies and appreciate themselves instead of feeling inadequate because of societal expectations.
“We should begin loving ourselves just the way God created us,” Martha concluded.
