Ugandan singer Maureen Nantume says she is no longer under pressure to constantly release new music, explaining that years of work have already given her the foundation she was looking for.
Nantume has been relatively quiet musically, but the singer has now hinted at a new release—a love song she describes as particularly beautiful.
Speaking to Sanyuka TV, Nantume explained that she chose to step back rather than release music simply for the sake of staying visible.
“Musically I have been quiet. If I do not have anything new to give to the people, I do not see why I would be in their faces. But right now, however, I have a new love song that is so beautiful,” she said.

Her current approach is a contrast to her earlier years in Eagles Production, when competition within the band pushed its artists to consistently produce new music.
Nantume recalled that the competition was intense but productive, with the members working to keep both their individual careers and the band at the top.
“Those days, we had so much competition. But it was healthy. We were in a band that had to be on top and we were the ones supposed to put it there,” she said.
According to Nantume, that period taught her the value of relentless work when an artist is still chasing a major career goal.
She encouraged younger musicians to maintain that same drive, particularly when they are still trying to establish themselves in the industry.
“That is how it used to be in our days. We used to release a lot of music because we had a goal we were chasing. If you have a dream, you do not give it a rest,” Nantume said.

She also urged emerging artists to focus on creating music that can entertain, encourage and motivate their listeners.
For Nantume, however, the situation is different now. Having already established herself, she says she is no longer operating with the same pressure to release music back-to-back.
Her focus has shifted toward preserving the foundation and legacy she built during the years when she was consistently putting out music.
And after the break, her next move appears to be a love song—giving fans something new to listen to without Nantume abandoning the slower pace she has chosen for this stage of her career.
