National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has officially opened a new regional party office in Mbarara, surprising party members and bypassing prior notification to security agencies.

“We bought this land, started construction, and have unveiled the offices without security or even some of our members knowing,” Kyagulanyi said during the unveiling ceremony, highlighting the strategic nature of the move.

The Mbarara office is part of NUP’s growing network of 40 offices nationwide, with 10 located in western Uganda. The opening proceeded smoothly, with minimal security presence apart from Kyagulanyi’s presidential security detail, Electoral Commission support, the Leader of Opposition security team, and NUP supporters.

Several Members of Parliament attended the event, having been invited under the pretext of a meeting to discuss the party manifesto, only to be surprised by the office unveiling, reflecting the secrecy surrounding the initiative.
