Sheilah Gashumba is opening up about one of the biggest questions surrounding her future — whether she actually sees herself giving birth — and the Ugandan media personality admits the idea still scares her.
Gashumba explained that while she has thought about marriage and starting a family, the reality of pregnancy, childbirth and life as a new mother is something she has not fully wrapped her head around.
Just weeks ago, she appeared on Kasuku Live, where she seemed to hint at her desire to get married and start a family with her lover. Her latest comments, however, show that the prospect of motherhood comes with some serious reservations.
For Gashumba, one of the biggest concerns is what life could look like after having a baby.
She says the idea of staying home to take care of a child while stepping away from work would be particularly difficult because she has been working from a very young age.
“I highly believe giving birth might not be for me very very scared of the whole process and i cant imagine being home and not working as well! Ive been working since i was 8 so thats the life im used to. I honestly can’t imagine myself in that phase, but maybe I will snap into it one day! Maybe.”
Her comments point to a tension between the possibility of starting a family and the lifestyle she has built around her career.
Gashumba also made it clear that she has not completely ruled motherhood out. Instead, she suggested that her perspective could change with time, leaving open the possibility that she may eventually feel differently about having children.
The influencer’s remarks have since attracted mixed reactions online, with some followers saying they share similar concerns about pregnancy and childbirth.
For now, Gashumba appears to be leaving the question open — acknowledging that while motherhood may eventually become something she embraces, she is not yet certain that giving birth is the path she wants to take.
