Ugandan artist Viboyo is turning some of his most personal experiences into music with Melodies of Pain, an album that explores family, love, money, fame and the challenges he has faced while trying to improve his life.
Released on October 9, 2026, the project is Viboyo’s fifth studio album. Despite its emotionally charged title, the singer says the record is not entirely about pain, also making room for ambition, gratitude, love and the peace that comes with accepting the past.
The album initially had a different purpose. Viboyo revealed that he first planned to release it as a deluxe edition of Hand Made Triumph, adding a few tracks to the existing project.

However, the music gradually developed its own direction, prompting him to turn it into a standalone album and record additional songs that better reflected its themes.
“At first, it was going to be the Deluxe edition of the Hand Made Triumph but as time went on, I realized it was taking a different direction from the album and I decided to make it independent, recorded more songs to fit into the theme of the album,” Viboyo explained.
The resulting project brings together songs inspired by different aspects of his life, with individual tracks exploring relationships, family connections, career experiences and the realities of pursuing success.
One of the most personal songs is “Dear Sis,” which reflects Viboyo’s appreciation for his sister, who took care of him during his childhood. The track highlights the importance of their relationship and the role she has played in his life.

On “Kampala,” the artist turns his attention to city life and the difficulties that come with chasing personal and professional goals. The song explores the pressures associated with trying to build a career while navigating the challenges of life in the city.
Viboyo also revisits his professional journey on “Opportunity,” reflecting on his experiences at Swangz Avenue and the opportunities he encountered along the way.
Meanwhile, “Caught In The Mix” explores love and the complications that can arise within a relationship, adding another dimension to an album built around personal reflection.
Rather than filling the project with the most commercially prominent names, Viboyo said he selected collaborators based on how well their musical styles and contributions matched the subjects he wanted to explore.
“Personally, I don’t go out looking for trending artists to just make a point. I instead look at artists that resonate with the theme and what I am talking about,” he said.
The album features Spyda Mc, Deluxe, Gentle, Clays, Lyto Boss, Joy Good and RapDoc, among others. Viboyo praised the contributors, saying each artist brought something valuable to the project.
“To me, everyone is a big brand, and that is why they are on the album. I enjoyed working with them,” he added.

Production on Melodies of Pain was handled largely by Banga Boi and Emmy Wonder, with additional contributions from young producers at Swangz Academy, including Mayanja On The Beat and KJay Styles.
With its focus on lived experiences rather than a single subject, Melodies of Pain presents Viboyo’s reflections on the people, decisions and circumstances that have shaped his journey.
The album also marks a creative shift from its original concept as a deluxe release, developing into a separate body of work built around the artist’s personal stories and changing perspective.
