“I came into music after dropping out of medical school. People had very high expectations of me, and along the way I developed self-doubt.”

“I’m going to use myself as an example to every female artist out there. I’ve gone through a lot in this industry, but I can’t say I’ve suffered the most. I played it safe, and while that cost me some opportunities, it also saved me from certain things. The music industry is a very complicated business.”
While she admitted that her cautious approach may have limited some career opportunities, she believes it also protected her from experiences she preferred to avoid.
Lamu also spoke about the lack of support she received from those closest to her.
According to the singer, her family never embraced her decision to pursue music.
“My family didn’t support my career. I’m a rebel in everything I do. Look at my tattoos—I still want to go to the UN and Parliament with them.”
