Sherry Matovu has opened up about the unusual level of openness in her marriage to Abdul Salam Ssendegeya, revealing that the couple even share their phone passwords.
The city beautician married Ssendegeya in a colourful Islamic wedding ceremony at Kibuli Mosque in May, and the couple has largely kept their relationship away from the public spotlight since then.
In a recent interview, however, Sherry offered a glimpse into their marriage, saying she sometimes checks her husband’s phone despite feeling secure in their relationship.
“I do check my husband’s phone. However, there is nothing much as to why I check it, and I’m very comfortable in our relationship. We share the same passwords,” she explained.
Sherry suggested that her husband’s affection for her could be part of the reason for the trust between them.
“I think he just loves me so much and deeply. I think he even fears losing me. I don’t know, but that is it,” she added.
But when the conversation turned to the possibility of other women, Sherry was noticeably less absolute.
She acknowledged that Ssendegeya is younger and, in her words, still active, meaning she cannot completely rule out the possibility of him having other women.
“My man is young and active, but I can’t rule out that there are some side chicks he smashes,” Sherry said.
Rather than presenting the possibility as something that currently troubles her, Sherry said she remains comfortable in the relationship.
That apparent confidence has offered a different picture of her new marriage, particularly after the couple chose to keep much of their relationship largely away from the public eye following their May wedding.
Ssendegeya, meanwhile, used the same interview to reassure his wife of his commitment, promising to love her forever until death separates them.
He also praised Sherry, saying women who have given birth possess a special kind of genuine love.
For now, Sherry’s comments suggest that transparency—not necessarily constant surveillance—is central to how she views their relationship, with both partners apparently comfortable enough to share passwords while maintaining their private life away from the spotlight.
