Aroma Music has opened up about painful family losses that she says have shaped her into a stronger person and changed the way she handles life’s disappointments.
Speaking on NRG Ignition with Mr Henrie, Aroma revealed that she is now the only child in her family after losing her two older siblings and, more recently, her father in 2025.
She said the losses have left her with only her mother, describing her current family situation as particularly lonely.
“It is going not so good, it feels too lonely, the loneliness is too loud,” Aroma said.
She explained that family is often where people turn for comfort during difficult moments, but her own experiences with loss have made it harder for her to process the deaths of other people’s loved ones.
“It’s from families that you get people who hold you when you’re down but I’m too stuck in my emotions nowadays and whenever people announce deaths of their beloved ones, I don’t know how to feel anymore,” she added.
Aroma said experiencing repeated loss and disappointment over the years has made her accustomed to people leaving her life.
Rather than allowing every setback to overwhelm her, she believes she has developed a stronger heart and is no longer easily hurt by the disappointments that once affected her deeply.
Despite the pain, Aroma said music has provided an important source of purpose and something to look forward to each day.
She explained that having songs to work on and music-related activities to focus on gives her a reason to keep moving, suggesting that life could have been even more difficult without her career.
“I think if I wasn’t singing and have nothing to look up at every morning… it’d be worse,” she said.
Aroma described the process of receiving songs from writers and going into the studio to work on them as something that keeps her engaged and gives her something to anticipate.
“Whenever you’re there and a writer sends you a song and you go and do it. If I wasn’t doing music maybe it’d have been worse,” she added.
For Aroma, music appears to have become more than a career. Amid the losses she has experienced, it has given her something to wake up to, work toward and hold on to.
