Ugandan music duo Kataleya & Kandle have named Bobi Wine as their dream collaboration partner, revealing that they would love to record a song with the musician-turned-politician despite the challenges of making that happen.
During a recent interview with BBS TV, the duo were asked which artists they would most like to work with. Bobi Wine, the leader of Firebase Crew, was their first choice.
However, the singers acknowledged that a collaboration could be difficult to arrange, pointing to his departure from active music-making and reported relocation to the United States.
“The people we want to work with all left music. We would really love to work with Bobi Wine but unfortunately he is no longer doing music,” Kataleya said.
Their choice highlights the continued appeal of established Ugandan artists whose music has influenced performers across different generations. For Kataleya & Kandle, working with Bobi Wine would be an opportunity to collaborate with a musician they clearly admire.
The duo have already worked with several recognised names in Uganda’s music industry, including Fik Fameica, Vinka, Tracy Melon and Dokta Brain.
Interestingly, they say their approach to collaborations is built on personal relationships rather than simply approaching artists because of their popularity.

Speaking about their experiences in the studio, Kataleya & Kandle explained that they have not encountered major challenges with their collaborators because they establish friendships before making music together.
“We have so far not collaborated with people we do not relate with. We work with our friends; this makes it easier,” Kandle said.
She added that the artists they have worked with became their friends before the collaborations took place, making their studio sessions more comfortable and natural.
According to Kandle, their partnerships grow out of those existing relationships rather than being arranged randomly.
That approach offers insight into how the duo choose their musical partners. Beyond the appeal of working with established artists, they value personal chemistry as part of the creative process.
Although a collaboration with Bobi Wine remains a dream expressed by the singers, the duo have made it clear that he is among the artists they would welcome into the studio.
For now, their wish list includes a musician whose career spans music and politics—and whose return to a recording session with the duo would fulfil a collaboration they have openly said they want.
