Ugandan media personality Flavia Tumusiime has opened up about motherhood, revealing that her greatest measure of success is the relationship she shares with her children rather than her ability to meet expectations of being a perfect mother.
Speaking on her YouTube channel, Flavia explained that she now values the simple moments of parenting, including sitting down with her children, talking openly, playing together and sharing meals.
“The evidence of my success is the fact that my kids and I sit on the same table and we talk. And I don’t feel the pressure to be a perfect Mom,” she said.
Flavia explained that her understanding of good motherhood has changed over time. She previously felt that being a good mother required following routines, staying organised and meeting particular expectations about how parenting should look.
Those standards, she said, once shaped how she judged her own performance as a mother.
“I know that might sound like nothing to you, but there’s a moment there where talking to my kids meant templates, be organized, be routined… because these are the things that make me a good mom, a perfect mom,” she explained.

Her perspective has since shifted towards being present and building a comfortable environment where her children can speak freely and enjoy time with her.
“But now I have reduced it to the fact that I can listen to them, we can play, we can joke, we can share a meal,” she added.
Flavia’s reflections highlight a move away from the pressure to get every detail of parenting right and towards appreciating the everyday interactions that help strengthen a family’s relationships.
Rather than measuring motherhood against strict routines or an ideal standard of perfection, she now places greater importance on communication, connection and the ability to enjoy ordinary moments with her children.
Flavia is married to sports journalist Andrew Kabuura, and the couple have three sons. Their firstborn, Liam Ahabwe Kabuura, was born on April 10, 2020. Their twin boys, Enzo Kakuru Kabuura and Ethan Kato Kabuura, were born on May 19, 2023.
Her comments offer a personal perspective on the expectations that can accompany parenting, particularly the pressure some parents feel to appear organised and always in control. For Flavia, success is increasingly reflected in whether she and her children can talk, laugh, play and share time together.
