Mimi Kampala has addressed speculation about her relationship with fellow dancehall artist Kapeke, insisting that the two are simply friends and that there is no romance between them.
The singer explained during an interview with Galaxy TV that her friendship with Kapeke has sometimes been misunderstood because they spend time together at her home.
According to Mimi, she enjoys having friends over because she likes cooking, and Kapeke happens to be one of the people she considers a close friend.
“Kapeke is just my good friend. I enjoy inviting people to my place because I like cooking. I’m a good cook,” Mimi said.
She was equally direct about the romantic speculation, asking people not to read more into their friendship.
“Kapeke is only a friend; stop expecting anything more. Stop looking at things romantically,” she added.
Mimi also said she is currently not looking for a romantic relationship. Instead, she wants to keep her attention firmly on her music career.
The singer explained that she does not want to divide her attention between music and relationships while she is still focused on building her career.
“I don’t have a boyfriend because I am so focused on my career. I can’t add love and relationships to music now, I may not be as focused,” she said.
Rather than leaving the timeline open-ended, Mimi even gave a specific year for when she says she will consider giving relationships a chance.
“I will give relationships a chance in 2036,” she said.
For now, Mimi says Kapeke remains exactly what she describes him as: a good friend. Her immediate priority is music, with romance apparently pushed well into the future.
